A decorative effect achieved by applying a contrasting colour of wet glaze onto a base colour

then by dabbing the surface with a sponge to removing the coloured glaze.

Stabilising Solution

Stabilising Solution is a low viscosity clear or slightly tinted oil based coating for consolidating powdery surfaces ready for overcoating with water or oil based paints.

Stipple

Dabbing the surface with a soft brush (stippling brush), (can also be made of rubber) whilst the coating is wet, to remove all brush marks. Also when broken colour or textured effects are being created.


Stippling

A decorative effect achieved by dabbing a wet applied glaze with a stippling brush.


Stopper

A filler of a paste consistency used for filling holes and cracks in timber.
