Drier for alky paints originally based on linseed oil/solvent/metallic salts.


Thermoplastic

Materials which become soft/fluid on heating. (see Solvent).


Thinners

Volatile liquids which are used to adjust the viscosity of coatings, (see Solvent).


Thixotropic

False body gels which break down when agitated by re-structure on standing.


Tinsley Gauge

 

 

 

Pencil-like magnetic gauge used to measure the dry paint film thickness applied to steel/iron.


Tint

Degree of white in a colour.


Tint strength

The strength of colourants/tinters used for tinting from white.


Tinter

A person who makes the final adjustment to achieve the correct colour. Also coloured pigment or paste used to adjust a base colour to the required shade, (see Colourant/Colourist).
