Linings
Refers to the internal timber lining to a door or wall opening. Can also be a painted line of equal width to form a frame or to separate two different wall colours to a dado line.
Linseed Oil
A drying oil produced from the seed of the flax plant which is refined to produce various types i.e. boiled or stand oil.
Litmus Paper
Litmus Paper
The main use of litmus is to test whether a wetted surface or solution is acidic, as blue litmus paper turns red and red litmus paper turns blue when alkaline is present.
Live Edge
A term used when painting large areas and the ability of the wet paint edge to remain able to be joined up while other areas are coated. (see Wet edge).
