A paint film which is bitty and rough caused by insufficient pressure to full atomise the paint, or a paint which is too high in viscosity, or the solvents evaporating too fast.

Drying Oil

Oil such as linseed, tung, soya which form a thin, hard film when exposed to air and allowed to oxidize.


Drying Time

The interval of time between the application and final cure of a coat of paint or varnish. (see Dust Dry, Surface Dry/Touch Dry, Hard Dry/Through Dry).


Dulling

General loss of gloss.


Durability

The length of time a coating will withstand the environment to which it has exposed to either internally or externally.
