My time within the painting and decorating industry began by serving an indentured apprenticeship with the then world’s largest chemical and paint manufacturer. During a six year programme time was not only spent on learning the trade but also all aspects of paint manufacturing and its application. This training included the pre-formulation of paints, quality control, through to the actual manufacturing processes for paints and varnishes as well as colour matching. Finally, time was spent in the technical service department whose responsibility was to evaluate their own and competitors’ products as well as dealing with customer enquiries and complaints. It was this latter aspect of the technical side of the trade that has led to me spending many years as technical manager for one of the UK’s paint manufacturing companies and for the past 15 years as an Independent Paint and Coatings Consultant.
With experience and knowledge relating to specification and problem solving an independent manual, PaintCheck was successfully printed in 1993 and is still used by many to assist when technical issues prevail on site.
Following on from PaintCheck, Paintcheckplus, is a one-off payment based website available via a PC, Tablet or Mobile, providing technical guidance and back up for Painters and Decorators, Architects and Surveyors and other professionals in both the private and public sectors who deal with the specification of paint and painting contracts.
While PaintCheck Plus assists in the identification of paint defects and their remedies other sections provide information associated with the painting trade including, Surface Spread of Flame, Glossary of Terms, Spraying, Advanced Decorative Finishes and direct links to professional bodies and manufacturers information.
Thanks for visiting Paintcheckplus.
